A little about my history in tutoring and what it means to me.

I still remember the excitement I felt when I first started tutoring while I was at university. With a strong foundation in maths and a genuine passion for the subject, I decided to step outside the classroom—not just to study, but to teach. I believed that sharing my knowledge would not only boost my own confidence but also offer a meaningful service to students who might need that extra push. I signed up with a tutoring agency, and before I knew it, I was quickly gaining students who were eager to learn.

Teaching maths was an entirely different experience from sitting in lectures. In class, it was all about grades and meeting deadlines; however, when I taught, the subject transformed into something vibrant and exhilarating. My excitement for maths was contagious—it wasn’t just about solving equations, it was about discovering the beauty behind numbers and patterns. I found that my own enjoyment of the material lit a spark in my students, making our sessions not only educational but genuinely fun. Celebrating each student’s improvement became one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

In those early years, I learned invaluable lessons about the art of teaching. I discovered that grouping students with similar levels of understanding can create a dynamic learning environment, but there is also immense value in one-on-one sessions. The personal connection forged during individual tutoring was something unexpected yet incredibly powerful. I soon realized that a tutor is not just an educator; they become a trusted guide, building rapport with both the student and their family. Witnessing the profound impact that this connection had on a child’s engagement with school was both surprising and deeply fulfilling.

Over time, I saw a transformation in my students that exceeded my expectations. They began to genuinely enjoy the learning process, finding joy in discovery rather than just chasing grades. This shift wasn’t just about academic improvement—it was about fostering a lifelong love for learning. The satisfaction of seeing a student light up with understanding, knowing that I had played a part in their growth, is something I will always cherish.

Starting Haloed Tutoring feels like the natural progression of everything I learned in those formative years. With Haloed Tutoring, my goal is to reach even more students while supporting fellow tutors to excel in their roles. I am excited and deeply committed to providing students with opportunities to achieve their highest potential—often, even beyond what they ever expected of themselves. This journey, from my early tutoring days to now, has been about more than just teaching; it’s about igniting passion, building confidence, and transforming lives one lesson at a time.
